McCammon Traditional Elementary School |
Offers 5 BASICS which define us as a Traditional School. They are:
- School-wide consistency/Homework Policy
- Structured Curriculum/Academic Emphasis
- Code of Conduct
- Dress Code
- Parents as Partners
McCammon Traditional Elementary School is a school of choice within the Public School system; therefore, the required curriculum of the British Columbia Ministry of Education will be followed. Being a school of choice in the Chilliwack School District, McCammon will:
- empower students to become contributing, productive citizens through a consistent, structured learning environment.
- provide a nurturing environment to encourage students to develop their individual potential and the confidence to achieve their goals.
- emphasize basic skills and the achievement of curricular outcomes in an environment based on the traditional values of citizenship, responsibility and respect.
- ensure a shared sense of mission and purpose among staff, parents/guardians and students.
Education is a partnership involving parents/guardians, students, staff and community. Working together they form a strong team able to provide the best education for every student. Parental interest and support are essential. All parents have the opportunity to be actively involved in the school and their student's educational experience.

Student Discipline Philosophy
The goal is a safe and comfortable learning environment for all students. To help accomplish this a clearly defined code of conduct, The McCammon Behaviour Matrix has been established with staff, parent and student input.
The basis of sound discipline should:
- teach self-discipline while keeping the dignity of students intact
- show students what they have done wrong
- teach students that they are responsible for their actions
- link choices and actions to related consequences
- guide students in order to develop character-building solutions
For discipline to be effective the school and the home must work together as partners for the benefit of all students.
